Thanks for looking over our web page. Prices below are usually what we are willing to pay for long guns that currently elicit customer interest. We will usually allow a bit more for trade or full quantities; a bit less – 20 or 25 percent less – on loan.

For the period of what we call deflated gun prices, about 1984 through 2004, many of us paid 60% of Blue Book prices. Since the 2007 Blue Book is not on the market yet, we have no opportunity for an opinion. But in many cases, we pay full Blue Book for guns.

We don’t always make an offer someone will like, but we will always make some kind of offer unless there is a problem. There are certain red flags we look for with certain situations, and potential dealing partners with us – customers are our equals, not our inferiors – should feel positive that all transactions are reported to our capable law enforcement officers at the Chester County Sheriff’s Department and where necessary to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Purchasing Policy: Any firearms shipment from outside the State of Tennessee through the US Postal Service must be shipped to us from a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer along with a copy of that Dealer’s License. Individuals may ship firearms to a licensed dealer, but not through the U.S. Mail; instead, through carriers like UPS and Fed Ex who have their own rules about firearms shipments. All serially numbered or identifiable items we buy, not only firearms but anything else, is reported to the Chester County Sheriff’s Department and checked to make sure it isn’t stolen. Payment is held until that can be accomplished, usually no more than 3 days. Any walk-in customer must present valid photo identification, and the same holds true for records check.

We always give customers who sell us firearms a receipt or purchase order for their firearm. That way, they are officially rid of it. That is a good idea, to be able to tell the BATFE what you did with a firearm if they ever run a trace.

Any pawned firearms from out-of-state must be shipped from and returned to a Federally Licensed Dealer as well. We are required by Federal Law to furnish a lock for any handgun we transfer, including pawned handguns. There is a $2 charge for a lock if a pawn customer does not furnish a suitable lock for handguns.

How Pawn Works. We loan money against secured portable personal property as collateral. We keep possession of the article(s) until the loan is repaid. For example, if Mrs. Smith needs to pay her light bill and has a Rossi .38 Revolver, she will come in, say on March 5 and borrow $100.00. She will owe us back $110.00, plus Tennessee’s $10 fee for Instant Check, plus another $10 if her revolver does not have a lock. The loan is due in 30 days, but it is renewable. If, on April 5, it is not convenient for Mrs. Smith to redeem her revolver, then she can pay at least $10.00. That will make her due date May 5. She will still owe $110 to us, plus any mandatory fees for firearms (we don’t get to keep the $10 for the background check. It is a State-imposed tax). Then, say, in April, she is able to pay and she will have to pay a total of $130.00 if she doesn’t have a gun lock.

Now. If Mrs. Smith instead has a 1-Troy Ounce Gold Krugerrand Coin, she might borrow $700.00. In that case, her due amount would be no more than $750 on April 5; or if she had 2 Krugerrands and needed $1,400.00, she would owe $1480 on April 5. There would be no added-on fees because our Tennessee Politicians have not thought up any to charge yet on non-gun valuables. Similarly, if Mrs. Smith had a 2-Carat Fine White Emerald Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring, and she borrowed $2,000.00, she would owe $2080 back on April 5. So the real interest rate, the APR, would be 120% on the Revolver (10% per month), 72% on the $1,400 loan for the 2 Krugerrands, or 48% on the Diamond Ring. While 240% is the maximum amount legal for Tennessee, we do not charge that much unless the loan is under $40.00. If Mrs. Smith had all 4 items on pawn, with a loan principal of $2600.00, we would only charge her 4% per month; that is, we combine a person’s multiple loans for a lower rate where possible.

Rates are as follows on our loans:

$15 - $30 loans 20% per month, 240% APR

$30 - $40 loans $5.00 per month, about 200% APR

$50 - $225 loans 10% per month, 120% APR

$250 - $900 loans 8% per month, 96% APR

$1000 - $1400 loan 6% per month, 72% APR

$1500 or more loan 4% per month, 48% APR

We reserve the right to charge an initiation fee for pawned items like firearms, on account of extra bookwork.
