Winchester Centerfire Rifles: 1960s to 2005

Thanks for looking over our inventory, and for those among our shoppers who have done business with us in the past. We use NRA grading terminology and percentages of the original finish remaining on the firearm in our descriptions. While firearm grading is subjective like coin grading, we have tried to give ample closeup photos of the firearms and tried to describe any detracting features of each firearm in such a way as seller and buyer can be as clear as possible on the merchandise’s condition. We include specific citations to Fjiestad’s Blue Book of Gun Values, published annually by Krause Publications.

We are very interested in buying nice bright blue and walnut Winchester Centerfire Rifles, and only mildly interested in synthetic stocked variants. Currently the highest demand calibers are .243, .30-30, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt, and .45-70. Please bear in mind, with offers to sell to us or trade to us, that it costs us about $50 per firearm to book it, clean it, photograph it, write it up and publish it on the internet – and even more if it has any problems.

Format is our stock number & heading – then photos – then description and price on each item. Serial numbers are deliberately smudged.

Discount schedule: 2% discount for orders paid by USPS Money Order. This does not necessarily apply to our listings on Guns America and other venues.  Our below-actual-cost shipping rates are at the bottom of this page.

This is the traditional Winchester 1894 with saddle ring and steel buttplate from the first Year of the Nixon Administration. We are unclear as to whether or not the stock is walnut. We believe it is, but photos should allow interested parties to judge that as well as finish grade. We consider it to be a Very Good specimen finishwise. We are it at 90 percent. There are light to moderate scuffs and pecks on the wood that we estimate affects 20 percent of the buttstock surface, and about 10 percent of the forend surface. Metal has what appears to be some very light old surface pitting, or at least roughness, at places on the magazine tube, that affect about 20 percent of that surface, mostly on its left side. Barrel surface shows some weakness to the bluing behind the band and some inconspicuous pitting around the rear sight. Note how clean, however, that the receiver is. Its finish has a distinctive black hue, while the lever, trigger, hammer, saddle ring and barrel have a nice purplish blue. Bore and mechanism are clean and excellent. Note that the loading gate has minimal case contact indications. This rifle comes from an Arizona domicile. It has been kept clean and not fired very many times. We’re offering it   for only           $ 529.95

Win .300 Mag Model 70 VG 24 in 1977

Serial number on this Model 70 Winchester standard model ADL type with no floorplate is G13308xx, dating it to 1977. It is chambered in standard .300 Winchester Magnum, and sports a 24 inch barrel. The stock is the original walnut stock, and it has been refinished, cut one inch to 13 ½ length of pull including the WRA recoil pad, and one of the stock connectors appears to have been replaced. We rate the stock at 80 percent or so, with scuffs and scratches that affect about 20 percent of the glossy oil refinish. We detect no cracks anywhere. Metal surfaces are Very Good as well, with white contact wear on the outside surface around the muzzle, one whitened rack spot on the upper left side of the barrel about 6 inches back of the muzzle, and extensive light spotting on the forward area of the barrel. Bolt jewelling is weak on the bolt surface, and the bolt handle has a brownish cast, but this is more from loading and unloading than actual firing. Bore is bright and rifling is Excellent and strong all the way to the muzzle. We pulled only a moderate amount of copper out of the bore with copper solvent, further evidence of only moderate firing use. This is a good, solid, serviceable 31 year old Winchester Model 70, with its original walnut ADL style stock and factory metal pistol grip cap. We’re offering it            for only           $ 339.95

Here is a very respectable representative of the most successful high-powered rifle, the Winchester 94. It was discontinued, of course, in 2006 when the New Haven manufacturing facility closed down after a 112 year run. This one’s serial number is 37654xx, manufactured in 1972. The weakness to the receiver’s finish is normal for Model 94s, whose receiver is not known for retaining blue. That part’s bluing only rates about 40 percent, but note the strength of the original bluing on all the other metal surfaces. Buttstock has a very nice plain oil finish, and from the exposure of a slight amount of tang metal, it may have been refinished. Length of pull is 13 ½ inches, about ½ inch shorter than normal, but the factory buttplate fits well despite some sanding indications on its lateral edges. Bore, chamber and mechanism are all excellent and clean. Own this American Classic Winchester          for only           $ 319.95

While this rifle shows normal case contact on its sharp edges, its blue is sufficiently intact, especially on the extra-hard Winchester receiver, to make it closer to Excellent Condition than most of its peers out there in circulation.  Characteristic of the hard-receiver 94’s, this one has extensive spottiness on its receiver as well as wear on its barrel band, and light spottiness visible in angled light on its magazine tube, barrel bands, sight flats, and tangs. Wood is an old laquer refinish that is light and does not really detract except for some that got on the lower tang. Buttstock and forend both have considerable figure in their walnut, and finish is really quite good with some light water contact indications on left cheekpiece area and light scratching to right upper edge of forend. We classify this rifle to be Very Good, 80 to 85 percent; but photos should suffice for interested parties to make an informed grading decision for themselves. Sling swivels are well fitted and do not detract. Bore and mechanism are excellent. Serially numbered 3503xxx, this 94 was manufactured in 1971. We’re offering this good solid old Winchester for only                 $369.95
